On The Broken (kernel)
When I was younger, I thought I noticed that the brilliant people (not all of them, to be sure, but enough to be statistically significant) flew. When younger, they used to fly - as children they made themselves airborne.
Now that I'm older, I'm beginning to notice that all of the brilliant people are broken. Brilliant but spacy, brilliant but without past, brilliant but afflicted, brilliant but horrific. Brilliant all, but broken all.
A fraternity of broken geniuses, a secret society of the idiot savants, a family of those who have suffered - who do suffer - from what the rest of society views as weaknesses, but who still excel, who still contemplate, and think. Who still shine brighter than anything else, if only you look deep enough to notice.
We are the Brilliant. We are the Broken.
